Tampa, FL - October 6th 2009 - Jim Hunter, Vice President of Communications for NASCAR was interviewed today on the 'Bubba The Love Sponge Show'. Hunter spoke about the possibility of awarding the 'regular season' champion an award of some sort.
Currently, NASCAR does not award points, money, or a trophy to the regular season champ. 'Bubba the Love Sponge' asked Hunter about the lack of recognition for the regular season champ and Hunter said NASCAR is looking in to it.
Regular season champ Tony Stewart, a good friend of 'Bubba the Love Sponge', voiced his opinion on the subject following the conclusion of the regular season, and "Smoke' was adamant about offering something to the regular season champ, preferably a cash award.
Hunter's did acknowledge that in recent weeks NASCAR has talked about a regular season award of some sort but they have not decided on what that award should be. Hunter said, "That's something we are looking at doing for next year, we just haven't decided what it will be. We know Tony would want a cash award of $10 or $20 million dollars." - John 'Captain Thunder' Nevins - www.CaptainThunderRacing.com
