 What's  the  scoop  on  fuel  injection?  I  thought  it  was  to  come  out  in  2011.  Maybe  test  in  a  partial  season.  And  then  no  more  talk.  this  is  from  racer.com;

 "NASCAR  vice  president  of  competition  Robin  Pemberton  says  that  the  sanctioning  body  is  on  target  for  introducing  fuel  injection  systems  to  Sprint  Cup  racing  for  2011.  He  added  that  NASCAR  is  also  close  to  finalizing  its  plans  for  the  use  of  ethanol-blended  fuel.

 "We're  still  looking  at  the  fuel  and  what  ratio,  percentage  that  we  will  use  when  we  get  there.  That  has  not  been  locked  down  yet,"  Pemberton  said.  "We're  still  working  with  the  teams  and  engine  engineers.  The  fuel  injection  is  â€“  I  would  say  it's  close  to  on  target,  and  we've  had  some  changes  in  the  last  90  days,  120  days.  Really,  it's  about  trying  to  get  a  level  playing  field  for  everybody.

 "We've  set  out  some  parameters,  come  back,  met  with  the  teams  and  made  some  changes,  and  they're  off  testing.  We  should  have  some  more  answers  probably  in  the  next  21  days  or  so.  But  I'd  say  we're  on  target  hopefully  for  early  2011  â€“  but  it  remains  to  be  seen.  We  can't  do  it  and  screw  things  up.  But  things  are  moving  along  pretty  nicely  right  now.

 Pemberton  said  that  while  NASCAR  was  attempting  to  have  both  greener  fuel  and  fuel  injection  in  place  by  next  year,  competition  requirements  would  trump  any  timetable.

 "Our  goal,  when  we  set  out,  everything  was  to  happen  in  2011,  and  where  we  land  with  the  percentage  of  ethanol  has  not  been  determined  yet,"  he  said.  "But  we  have  teams  that  have  been  running  on  the  dynos  with  some  10,  E10  and  E15  and  all  the  way  up  to  E30.  But  for  the  most  part  it's  been  E10  and  E15.  We'll  let  you  know  when  we  come  to  that.  Right  now  there's  a  lot  of  work,  so  I  can't  sit  here  and  put  a  date  to  it.  That  will  be  detrimental  to  the  sport  in  general,  so  we're  still  working  at  it."

 I  also  heard  that  McLaren  was  the  frontrunner  for  supplying  the  fuel  injectors.  Nate  Ryan  had  an  article  stating  that  McLaren  is  looking  to  get  more  involved  with  NASCAR.

 me  thinks  it  aint  about  specifically  fuel  injection  itself,,  but  rather  every  manufactor  has  a  different  intake,  plenum  runners  and  ideas  where  to  place  the  injectors.  and  most  throttle  bodies  are  in  the  front  of  engines.  wow  can  we  have  ram  air?  shall  we  also  have  drive  by  wire  or  shall  we  have  cable  driven  accuated  throttle  plates?  ...those  dilemmas  and  differences  me  thinks  are  the  problem.  and  surely  not  some  kind  of  weird  distrubutor  (actually  me  thinks  a  mechanical  distributor  would  not  work  at  all).  go  totally  electronic  i  say...  just  like  what  we  drive  so  the  technology  benefits  us  too.  a  coil  for  every  spark  plug,,..a  digital  signal  could  control  the  high  voltage  spark.  no  more  switching  spark  boxes.  the  only  control  the  driver  would  have  is  turning  off  the  rev  limiter  near  the  end  of  the  race,  we  already  have  that.
 all  the  Engine  Control  Management  could  be  the  same.  cant  hide  traction  control  in  a  stand  alone  ECM.  there  are  things  like  O2,  tps.  map,  maf.  iat,  iac  and  another  dilemma  ..fuel  pressure,  but  them  too  could  be  standard..nascar  rules  you  know.

 quick  starts  after  red  flags..

 benefits  would  be  running  14;7  fuel  air  ratio  behind  the  pace  car  and  180  in  the  turns.  no  lean  or  rich  cylinders.  in  the  shade  or  in  the  sun.  humiity  high  or  low.  watkins  glen  or  homestead.  and  one  eye  jack  wont  have  to  look  at  spark  plugs  so  much.

 very  much  like  plug  and  play.

 just  imagine..the  LS9  has  over  600+  HP  and  still  can  get  20  miles  to  the  gallon.  your  mileage  may  vary..

 NASCAR  was  even  late  on  radial  tires...

 speaking  of  the  LS9/camaro  what  a  great  engine/car  for  another  IROC  series.  fail..  ut  oh  Â LS9  has  supercharger  ..dang
 can  you  tell  i  like  it?
