Penske Racing driver David Stremme confirmed Wednesday that Roy McCauley will remain the team’s crew chief for the upcoming 2009 Sprint Cup season.
 
McCauley has been crew chief of the No. 12 Penske team since the start of the 2008 season with driver Ryan Newman but wasn’t sure if he wanted to return to the team for this season.

Stremme is in his first full season with Penske, joining the team after driving for Rusty Wallace Racing’s Nationwide Series team last year. Stremme replaces Ryan Newman, who moved to Stewart-Haas Racing.

 
Stremme said the three-car Penske organization has made some internal changes, moving people around between his team, Kurt Busch’s No. 2 team and Sam Hornish Jr.’s No. 77 team.
 
Stremme also said Tom German, an engineer from Penske Racing’s IndyCar team, will be part of the NASCAR side of things.
 
“There are a lot of things going on, and there are other things I would like to talk about, but I’m not going to,” Stremme said. “We’ll wait throughout the year, but I feel that’s going to definitely help our performance.
