Oh  boy,  three  more  races  and  it's  the  Chase.

 Let's  see  what's  going  on.

Special  K-  Ooo  what  to  do  about  you?  The  inn  is  full  at  Hendricks  but  Jeffy  has  an  achy  back.  Does  Hendricks  risk  letting  you  go?  What  about  sponsors?  Holy  cow?  Army?  No  that's  Ryan's  sponsor.  Hmmm.  Bass  Pro?  Do  you  hunt?  Maybe  Hendricks  signs  you  to  a  one-year  part-time  contract  and  has  you  split  the  ride  with  Ryan  Newman  as  Jeffy  insurance  and  such.

Kevin,  Kevin,  Kevin.  The  Insiders  posted  your  "discussion"  about  the  car  with  Richard  Childress.  O  somebody  needs  to  wash  your  mouth  out,  son.  Don't  bite  the  hand  that  feeds  you,  cause  in  Nascar  it  comes  back  to  haunt  you-ask  Robby  Gordon  (like  he  cares).

Robby,  Robby,  Robby,  what  have  you  become.  You  were  a  contender,  you  were  an  outlaw,  but  you  threw  the  fight.  Maybe  it  isn't  start  n  park  but  start  and  wreck  to  keep  up  with  your  schedule.  And  Nascar  allows  it  cause  you  are  the  last  of  the  thirty-five  full-time  teams.  Anyone  who  plays  the  game  has  to  get  by  you.  As  the  Big  Man  says,  "Outlaw,  outlaw.  Robby  ain't  no  stinkin  outlaw.  Bwahahahahahahaha."  Robby  knows  how  to  play  the  game  and  he  is  boring.  You  are  stinkin  up  the  field.  And  going  after  a  rookie  who  is  better  than  you  will  ever  be.  That  is  cynical.  I  hate  cynical.  God,  help  me  when  I  come  to  Charlotte,  I  will  find  you.

Brian  Vickers  and  Dale  Earnhardt  in  the  Chase.  This  will  be  ugly.  Will  Brian  boot  Dale  Jr.  into  the  field  at  Talladega  like  Kevin  LePage?  Maybe  when  the  Chase  leaders  are  coming  up  the  straightaway,  taking  out  everyone  in  contention  and  re-arranging  the  Chase  order.  Ooo  Brian  Vickers  in  the  Chase  might  make  this  entertaining  for  once  but  not  in  the  way  Nascar  planned  it.  Or  did  they?

Is  hubcap  right?  Did  bringing  in  Lisa  Mayfield  just  make  Nascar  more  interesting?  Certainly,  more  entertaining  than  Max  Mosely's  "Dances  with  Domintrixies"  in  F1  or  Tony  George's  "Rome"  or  "Indianapolis"  or  "Mom  Boots  Son-in-Law  Out  of  Job"  in  Indy.  No,  maybe  this  crazy  old  world  is  righting  itself  after  all  the  ugliness  that  has  and  is  occuring  right  at  this  moment.  Maybe  Nascar  hasn't  lost  it's  redneckness.  It's  just  been  lying  in  a  ditch  somewhere  in  Irdell  County  next  to  Lisa  Mayfield.  Maybe  we  need  the  Mayfields  back  in  Nascar.  Boot  Robby  Gordon  out  of  the  thirty-fifth  spot  and  give  it  to  Mayfield.  Bring  back  some  real  people  into  the  sport.  This  is  your  opportunity  Brian  France.  Put  that  drink  down  and  forgive  the  Mayfields.  And  quit  staring  at  Lisa  Mayfield's  tatas.

Childress  is  pissed  with  Kevin  Harvick.  He's  gonna  put  some  junk  in  Bowyer's  trunk.  Bowyer  may  not  win  the  Chase  but  he  will  be  there  making  Juan  Pablo's  run  as  miserable  as  possible.  And  pissin  Happy  off  more  and  more.

I'm  thinking  Matty  and  Mark  will  be  out  because  they  are  just  that  inconsistant.  Roush  will  put  all  into  da  Biff  and  Edwards  as  he  can.  Edwards  may  snap  again  under  pressure.  Maybe.

I'm  seeing  Brian  Vickers  and  Clint  as  definate  shows  for  the  Chase.  Vickers  is  a  man  on  a  mission  and  it's  at  the  right  time.  Jimmy  and  Chad  are  getting  sloppy  so  that  third  spot  is  pretty  ripe  for  the  picking.

Jeff  is  hurt  and  hurt  bad.  When  Jeff  starts  snapping  at  the  media  pups,  well  that's  a  bad  sign.  Can't  see  him  -unless  he  starts  some  miricle  treatment-not  getting  out  of  the  car  at  some  point  especially  if  he  wrecks  at  Atlanta.

Jeff  Gordon  our  Steven  Jobs.  That  was  for  the  techies  out  there.  WooHoo!  Although  it  may  be  Jr.

Tony  has  a  new  girlfriend.  Bad  time  to  pick  one  of  those  especially  a  youngin.  But  she's  a  dirt  racer  so  who  knows.  Maybe  he  will  get  really  really  focused.  Or  not.

I  was  thinking  of  a  new  nickname  for  the  88.  How  about  Rocket  88?  Yeah,  I  know,  he's  driving  a  Chevy  and  not  an  Olds  but  that  was  a  sweet  run  he  had  and  I  about  had  a  heart  attack  when  he  was  passin  Matty  and  Mears.

If  Casey  Mears  screwed  up  a  Jr  run,  what  would  happen?  Are  there  enough  Jr.  fans  on  hand  for  mayham  and  misery?

but  YY  i  know  you  are  jr  nation..but  you  said  "I'm  thinking  Matty  and  Mark  will  be  out  because  they  are  just  that  inconsist[e]nt."  are  you  getting  biased?  do  you  have  the  pie  in  the  sky  syndrome?  jr  is  consistently  inconsistent.

never  said  or  thought  b.vick  was  not  a  racer.  just  dont  want  to  be  up  front  with  him  at  the  end  racing  for  position  or  win.  same  with  leffler...

i  saw  jeff  on  tv  making  a  interview  and  he  acted  tho  if  in  pain;  didn't  turn  much  and  seemed  to  grimace  when  he  did  move.  he  probably  has  a  TENS  unit  on  in  a  race..

vickers  hot  run  ends  this  weekend  in  Bristol  and  brings  Kyle  and  Clint  closer.    But  Mark  will  make  the  chase  with  ease  winning  another  race  before  then  and  getting  3  top  10's  and  2  top  5's

 HEY  YoWseR  yOwSeR..!  !  !

i  like  your  writings  about  what  could  happen  and  it  is  written  in  a  facetious  way..very  clever  and  makes  one  think..

what  are/is  your  wisdom  on  the  who  will  win  the  2012  (or  2013)  re-surfaced  Daytona  500  ?  and  most  of  all  how  much  more  will  NASCAR  change  before  that  happens  ?  will  jeff  be  around?  will  fuel  injection  arrive?  etc..

i  watched  DALE  movie  recently  and  gosh  dang  it  seems  a  different  series  than  today,  and  that  was  only  a  few  years  back.
i  find  nascar  changing  successfully,  progressively,  and  exponentially  more  every  year.

Smoke  said  it  best,  it's  all  about  technology.  Dale  Jr.  is  right  when  he  says  the  track  changed  so  much  he  doesn't  know  the  track  anymore.  Montvale  and  a  lot  of  other  board  members  are  right  it's  just  not  what  a  lot  of  us  grew  up  with.  It's  a  billionaire's  boys  club  and  there  is  no  getting  around  that.

I'm  still  thinking  about  this.  So  I  will  have  to  come  back  to  your  question  although  I'm  not  certain  about  Jeff.  Jeff  is  an  icon  of  sorts  although  nothing  compare  to  Richard  Petty  and  Dale  Sr.  Nascar  will  be  really  weird  without  him.  No  more  "jeff  gordon's  gay"  or  "jeff  gordon  sucks".  We  can  abuse  Kyle  but  what  if  corporate  America  turns  him  into  America's  sweetheart.  Yeesh.

2012  is  rumored  to  be  the  end  of  the  Mayan  calendar.  What  if  this  is  a  sign?  What  if  Nascar  is  linked  to  the  Mayan  calendar.  Holy  cow!

2012  is  big  because  Jeff  and  Tony  Stewart  will  be  40  years  old.  Jeff  Burton  and  Robby  Gordon  are  now  41  and  40.  There  are  so  many  drivers  approaching  40.  And  so  there  are  more  changes  coming  in  the  driving  dept.  What  if  this  is  all  linked?  The  Mayan  calandar,  Nascar,  Tony  Stewart,  Jeff  Gordon.  Are  we  going  to  die?

 But  I  disgress.

I  don't  know  at  the  moment.  I'm  still  thinking  about  this  and  I  know  with  the  mess  in  F1  and  IRL,  Nascar  is  poised  to  become  the  world's  most  important  auto  sport.  We  are  talking  World!  But  we  are  also  in  competition  with  the  Olympics  in  London  and  that  going  to  be  the  big  show  in  2012.  Brian  France  is  not  going  to  allow  Nascar  to  be  beaten  out  by  the  Olympics  for  ratings.  This  is  unacceptable  in  Brian's  World  Order.  Something  totally  Nascar  is  about  to  happen.  I  am  watching  and  reading  for  something  really  bizarre  to  happen.  I  should  have  an  idea  by  the  end  of  the  season.  We  will  all  have  an  idea  by  the  end  of  the  season.  And  Montvale  won't  like  it  at  all.

im  thinking  cars  wont  even  be  on  the  track  in  the  future.    just  drivers  in  some  VR  simulation  that  will  be  broadcast  to  the  nation.

Nascar  is  all  about  personalities,  not  about  racin  anymore.  Super  stars  and  wannabees  abound.  This  year's  wannabee  may  be  next  year's  big  personality.
We  used  to  root  fo  the  cars,  Chevy  ,  Olds,  Pontiac,  Studebaker?  yes!,  Rambler,  Buick,  Hudson,  Mercury,  Chrysler,  Plymouth,  Dodge,  some  others  I  can't  remember..right  now.
Few  years  from  now,  won't  happen.  Nobody  will  remember,  just  Dale  Jr,  Ray  Evernham,  Jimmie  Johnson,  Mark  Martin,  Smoke,  Joey,  ad  nausem..Nascar  is  all  about  the  people  who  make  the  news.  And  most  of  it  is  contrived.  The  media  trying  to  position  drivers  in  places  where  there  is  no  ride  available,  misquoting  at  every  oportunity  to  lend  flair  to  their  writing,  that  sucks  because  there  are  just  too  damn  many  of  them,  the  announcers,  who  think  they  are  the  stars  of  the  show,  and  it  is  all  about  them...uh...go  home  has-beens,  shut  up  and  let  us  watch  the  race.
If  I  sound  bitter.....I  am.  And  like  a  lot  of  other  people,  I  will  watch  if  I  can't  find  anything  else  to  do.
Tonight  at  Bristol,  most  will  race  to  peserve  their  points  and  we  will  see  a  parade....probably  led  by  a  damn  Toyota.
     I  remember  Pearl  Harbor...screw  a  damn  Toyota!
And  before  you  blow  me  off......I  can  tell  you  I  am  not  alone...Nascar  has  become  a  boring  bunch  of  bullshit.  Thousands  of  fans  are  lost  to  the  super  egos  that  pull  the  strings.  Every  week.  You  can't  blame  the  ecomony  for  people  not  watching  TV,  quite  the  contary,  it's  all  some  people  can  afford.

No,  it's  understandable,  Montvale.  That  why  I  ask  you  because  you  represent  that  perspective.  The  events  that  belong  to  the  workingman  such  as  Nascar,  football,  and  baseball  are  going  away  and  becoming  events  catering  to  a  strange  group  of  elites  that  have  the  credit  to  pay.  Bruton  Smith  and  Brian  France  Jr.  have  built  these  huge  stadiums  (some  which  are  larger  than  many  football  stadiums)  and  they  have  mortgaged  them  to  the  hilt  and  guess  who  pays  for  them.  Now  it's  up  to  Brian  France  Jr.  to  deal  with  the  problem  of  filling  them.

So  they  gear  everything  to  the  people  that  can  pay  for  them.  And  these  people  are  uninterested  in  getting  dirty.  The  old  Nascar  was  dirty,  grimey,  very  dangerous  and  difficult.  Those  days  were  the  days  that  you  had  to  be  an  iron  man  to  drive  the  cars.  No  powersteering,  no  airsystems,  no  firewalls,  and  no  special  shock  packages.  And  most  of  your  drivers  were  farmers  and  mechanics.  To  be  in  Nascar  you  had  to  be  resourceful,  and  the  most  resourceful  people  in  society  are  your  farmers  and  mechanics.

But  they  were  also  smart  men  and  they  wanted  to  make  a  living  out  of  Nascar.  That  was  Curtis  Turner's,  Joe  Weatherly's,  Lee  Petty's,  and  numerous  others  early  drivers  goals  was  to  make  a  profit  through  Nascar.  Well,  this  goal  became  a  beast  that  ate  the  old  Nascar  because  our  society  has  changed  so  much.  Becoming  a  mechanic  or  farmer  requires  going  to  college  these  days.  With  the  event  of  the  Prius  and  Volt,  mechanics  are  going  to  have  become  automotive  engineers  because  of  the  complexity  of  the  system.  I  watch  the  farmers  around  me  and  the  RFD  channel  and  there  is  so  much  to  soil  management  than  just  crop  rotation.  You  have  to  understand  biochemistry  just  to  be  able  to  put  a  seed  in  the  ground.

And  this  is  reflected  in  Nascar.  As  you  said  many  times  Montvale,  most  of  the  crew  chiefs  are  engineers.  Tony  Eury  Jr.  came  up  under  Tony  Sr.  starting  as  a  car  chief/tire  carrier  and  proceeded  from  there.  I  don't  think  he  has  a  college  degree.  Kirk  Almquist  who  is  Robby  Gordon's  crew  chief  has  an  Associate's  Degree.  Those  are  the  only  crew  chiefs  that  I  know  of  without  college  degrees  in  mechanical  engineering.  Our  society  really  has  changed  so  much.  You  can't  make  money  unless  you  have  some  kind  of  piece  of  paper.

I  don't  have  any  answers  for  any  of  this.  Not  for  Nascar,  not  for  society.  You  want  to  make  something  better  but  then  it  kicks  you  in  the  butt  with  requirements.  I  still  love  Nascar  and  will  still  watch  it.  But  somehow,  I  feel  disillusioned  by  it  (especially  after  the  Mayfield  mess)  but  there  are  these  drivers  that  still  want  to  play  it,  they  want  to  be  in  the  show,  they  risk  so  much  and  train  from  such  a  young  age  to  be  in  the  show.  How  can  I  turn  away  from  that?  I  want  things  to  work  out  for  them  and  somehow  for  Nascar  to  get  better.

Because  if  Nascar  is  better,  somehow  I  feel  better.  Thanks  Montvale.

I  know  we  can't  go  back.  We  never  can.  But  I  don't  think  it  will  last  long  using  the  American  Idol  format.  This  country  just  elected  a  president  like  that.  I  worry  about  that.

If  the  car  manufactors  were  to  tell  Baby  Brian  and  Helton's  mustache--  "Hey,  when  you  put  our  brand  back  on  the  track,  we  will  support  you,  and  not  before.  The  COT  has  a  patent  and  belongs  to  Nascar,  you  give  the  teams  some  money....bye."

They  are  fools  to  support  a  lousy  emblem  on  the  front  bumper  and  hot  rod  parts  that  are  copys  of  the  orginal  parts  they  used  to  sell.  The  only  thing  Nascar  gets  from  the  manufactors  is  money.
I'm  tired  of  looking  at  that  COT  and  hearing  about  Mayfield's  drunken  stepmother.  THAT  AIN'T  NASCAR.
