I dont understand why Brian France should have his divorce documents sealed...they are public record, and if I was to divorce my docs would be open to the public to see. So, why should France's be sealed? Maybe someone can explain this to me?

Should they be sealed? Obviously, no. Unfortunately, Brian is extremely wealthy and the "rules" often apply differently to the wealthy in our country. The better question is why does Brian want them sealed and what is in them that he doesn't want to get out? Just what is on these tapes?
Lets look at some "possible" scenarios...
NASCAR holds itself to a higher moral standard than other sports. Was Brian conducting himself in an immoral way (by NASCAR standards) in his private life? If so, wouldn't the Chairman and CEO of NASCAR look bad when NASCAR is exercising a punitive action against drivers and crewmates for violating any morality clauses in their contracts? Wouldn't such actions be extremely embarrassing for him if everybody involved in NASCAR (employees, drivers, owners, teams, etc.) was aware of it? Wouldn't such actions put NASCAR in a bad public light when it considers itself so family-friendly?
Is there any truth to the rumors that Brian was involved in some illegal campaign contributions? If so, was this mentioned or discussed on the tapes and documents? If there is truth to this, not only could this have repercussions with his involvement in NASCAR, but it could have repercussions in his other business dealings and future business dealings. Somebody having potential charges to deal with would not be the best person for anybody to do business with.
In your interviews with Jeremy Mayfield, he hinted at some of these "scenarios". Jeremy may or may not be bitter about the way events happened, but lying about Brian France in any way would be stupid and very detrimental to any hope of a future in the sport. Jeremy doesn't strike me as being that stupid.
My Dad knew Bill France Sr. and Jr. and has always spoken very highly of them. They say an apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but in the case of Brian France it seems a bad windstorm caused this apple to fall in a completely different orchard when it comes to the character and integrity Brian seems to possess when compared to that of his Father and Grandfather. You can't argue with what Brian has done for the sport, but I think the facade he tries to portray is in danger of cracking and falling away and the public might not like what they find underneath. Perhaps he should step down and Lesa should be appointed as the Chairman and CEO of NASCAR until Brian can get his personal life settled?
I do think that whatever is in these tapes and documents has the potential to be very damaging to Brian. Brian is starting to remind me a little bit of Dan Snyder (owner of the Redskins). Rich people have a habit of thinking the rules do not apply to them. I would love to see everything unsealed so we can see what Brian is trying to keep from getting out. People do not fight this hard over frivolous BS.

I agree with Kuron. Brian has screwed up somewhere but his ex-wife is a piece of work herself.
I'm not certain though if the papers should be sealed. They would provide years of entertainment, especially if what I suspect has gone down with Brian is true.
And don't think that Lesa doesn't know about this. She is always privy to what Brian is up to.
