This is bigger than just Mayfield's drug test. Nascar wants Mayfield out of Nascar after the Ray Evernham mess.
It would be interesting to witness what happens if Mayfield qualifies for the race or even if Nascar let's the car through inspection. |

| i will be surprised if we see Mayfield again. He is going to not have a sponsor because what sponsor will join him? Plus if one did Nascar would do what it takes to keep that sponsor out. We all know they can control that |

There are a lot worse deivers on the track than him. He never had to take oxygen because he was drunk the night before...flu. Yeah right.
And others can't drive when they are sober. I have mixed feelings about this whole thing. |

Jeremy had a ride lined up for Daytona but the owner backed out due to pressure from somewhere. I don't know where but it wasn't Fred's, they confirmed they didn't mind Jeremy driving.
This is getting sad. NASCAR continues to change their story every week. Last week they said in the court papers that there was no way to tell if it was one-time or chronic use but now this week in the appeal they are claiming the test indicates chronic use. Pretty soon they will have him living in a box down by the river. It's funny to me how it has gone from a simple drug of concern that was not alarming enough to stop him from practicing and qualifying at Darlington to chronic use of the dangerous, illegal, banned substance Methamphetamine that will kill all drivers, spectators and wildlife within a mile of the track if he is allowed to compete in just a month or so.
Nothing changes the facts that the NASCAR substance abuse policy is so incomplete and inadequate that it couldn't pin a marajuana charge on Willie Nelson. There are no defined expectations, no defined consequences, no defined appeal process, no checks and balances on the ethics of those in charge and too much autonomy in one or two people. Those are all problems NASCAR can't explain. The only thing NASCAR has is the initial toxicology report and Judge Mullen said the likelihood of that being a false positive was "quite substantial." If that's the casethen they have nothing.
NASCAR continues to cling to a sinking ship due to it's arrogance. They can't win this case in court so they have now resulted to guerrilla warfare type tactics to break down the Mayfield camp behind the scenes. But I don't think they realize that these aren't the good old days and Mayfield doesn't have any secrets they can use to force him to give up the fight the way they did with Tim Richmond.
I'm telling you friends, they are earning the nickname, "the Southern Mafia" on this deal. Sorry for the long soapbox type post but what is happening in this case in the media and outside the media is making me sick. |

| I have been saying for years they are the Southern mafia and this isn't changing anything. We all knew this would end up this way when Jere,y got his ban lifted. |

I really wouldn't call it the Southern Mafia, just the France-Smith Mob.
You might hurt the feelings of the real Southern Mob aka the Dixie Mafia. The real deal would have eliminated Jeremy ages ago. Jeremy would become a Nascar icon like Jimmy Hoffa.
I am suggesting a new drinking game like everytime someone asks "Jeremy going to run at this track, blah, blah, blah" or "the results of Jeremy Mayfield drug test" or "Jeremy Mayfield..." you have a red jello shot or something.
Works well with start and parks as well.
Man this season has gone "south". |

Besides the Frances are out of Florida and some folks don't consider that state a "Southern" state.
Quit blaming the South for everything that happens in Nascar. The Civil War is over, get over it. The South said they were sorta sorry and reapplied for citizenship. Quit boo-hooing. Bunch of dang Northerners. Everything is Southern this and Southern that. Nascar owes more to California than any other state for its development and existance, so it's California and Florida's fault that this is going on.
If Virginians running the show, none of this would have happened. Dang. |

LOL, as a transplanted northerner living in South Carolina I'm well aware that there was no such thing as the "Civil War." It was the War of Northern Aggression and I'm told not to make the mistake of assuming it's over.
You're correct though, all of this mess and many others in NASCAR can be traced to it's current leadership. We need to convince Brian France that happy hour starts at 8 AM so he will resign his position and just stay at the bar all the time. |
